According to the chairman of the PDP electoral panel and Ekiti state governor Ayodele Fayose, out of 452 delegates accredited to participate in primaries 24 delegates were absent and five more votes were voided.
Dickson’s candidature was chosen long before the PDP’s primaries, so the the election was a mere formality.

As the December 5 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa state continue to gain momentum, delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have thrown their weight behind Governor Seriake Dickson endorsing him as sole party candidate ahead of the party’s primaries on September 24.

The Bayelsa state governor, Henry Seriake Dickson declared his intention on September 8 to run for a second term in the governorship race slated for December 5.

Nigeria’s immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, has endorsed Bayelsa state Governor Seriake Dickson for a second term.

Recall that Governor Dickson has recently been in the news over his reported reconciliation with Patience Jonathan. Meanwhile about a month ago, Dame Patience was said to be supporting the former governor of Bayelsa state, Timipre Sylva.

Meanwhile, Wariponmowei Dudafagh, the former senior special assistant to the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, has dissociated himself from the recent directive by the former First Lady Patience Jonathan that all her loyalists should support Governor Seriake Dickson in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa state.

Dudafagh noted that the directive did not include him and he would not change his position that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would fail in the upcoming elections if it fielded Dickson as its flag bearer.

Charity Vedelago, a female governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state, has said former President Goodluck Jonathan cannot save the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from defeat.
